There's one thing guaranteed to get us as excited as a dog chasing their tail and that's when the UPS man brings us our Scholastic Book Orders! There's nothing as fun as opening that box and seeing all the books that were ordered. And in all the years we've been doing this I can always find a book I didn't see or think was going to be good that I now want! Today the focus of my order was on Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas.

Of course we couldn't wait to read them and boy did they get us in a Holiday Spirit. The Great Thanksgiving Escape is all about a little boy, Gavin who has Thanksgiving at his grandmothers house. He along with his cousin Rhonda, try to find some place where they can be. They are too young for the little kids and not old enough for the big kids.
Gavin and Rhonda have to get through the house to get to the swing set in the back yard. Will they make it? This book was written and illustrated by Mark Fearing. It would be a great preschool book but could be used for other ages as well. There's so much to look at on each page that all age groups will be entertained. As Rhonda and Gavin learn "Sometimes you have to make your own fun" which this book has done. |
